Spoken Tamil Classes for Staff Members and AAUP Members
The
AAUP Committee on Continuing and Extension Education organized classes on
Spoken Tamil, at the request of staff members and AAUP members. Twenty five
members registered to follow this program.
The program was organized in collaboration with the Sri Lanka
Association of Graduate Women Kandy (SLAGWK) which provided three volunteer
resource persons: Mrs. P.T Jayatilleke,
Mrs. C. Rashid and Mrs. I. Kandasamy.
Classes commenced on 01st July 2019 and were held once a week
at the AAUP Office. Face to face instructions as well as handouts helped the
participants to improve their spoken ability of the language.

The concluding session of the four month spoken Tamil
program, was held at the AAUP Office on 23 December 2019. The agenda of the
session included a review lesson by the resource persons, Mrs. C. Rashid and Mrs. I. Kandasamy.
The language ability exhibited by the learners
are commendable. One participant delivered the vote of thank in Tamil. The
resource persons were offered souvenirs as token of appreciation, of their
commitment to make the program a successful activity.
